Spiritual successor to Meat Boy

Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine is a premium action game for PC from Headup Development. It's an arcade title that takes direct inspiration from the popular cult classic Super Meat Boy series. Instead of the typical platforming the original was known for, it utilizes puzzle mechanics for its core gameplay. 

Comparing it directly to Super Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy Forever games, Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine features familiar character models and vibrant colors, with some gore mixed in to round out the "meat boy" aesthetic. Newcomers can check the demo version out to see if they like the game.

A different take

At this point, Super Meat Boy has been around for more than a decade now, yet it still serves as a great example of platforming done right. It also happens to feature bizarrely charming characters with a distinctly gory presentation and gameplay. Out of nowhere, comes Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine, a game that combines the original's signature aspects but changes things up in a new way.

This game is essentially what would have happened if Super Meat Boy became an action puzzler. Its gameplay is of the tile-matching variety, with a little classic Tetris thrown in because why not. There are over 100 levels to face across multiple worlds, with epic boss battles waiting for you at the end of each one before you can proceed.

To up the challenge and danger even more, account for the various deadly traps and strange creatures scattered throughout each stage that will get in your way. As was mentioned, the game has more than 100 puzzle levels, filled with creative traps and hazards for you to solve your way through. Super Meat Boy fans will also encounter familiar locations like the salt factory, hospital, and picturesque forest.

Just as bizarre and fun

Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine is shaping up to be a worthy spiritual successor to the original game. It retains much of the same aspects that made Super Meat Boy great while introducing changes to the gameplay that will surprise long-time fans. It's bizarre, challenging, and it is worth putting on your radar. The game will test your skills to the limit with 30 achievements to unlock. Highly recommended.
